Structural Repairs:

Pool cracks can be superficial and require only saw-cutting open and plaster patch to repair. Major structural cracks may require a process called "stitching," where a rebar staple is inserted to help stabilize against future damage. In some extreme cases the pool may need to have a complete new steel & gunite structure built in the existing shell. Not all pools are created equal, believe it or not; we have repaired pools with no structural steel installed during original construction. Due to the combination of rocky soil on the west of IH-35 and the extremely expansive "Black-Gumbo" soil on the east, ground may shift in one backyard but not in the neighbors! This creates a challenge for the pool builder. With proper construction procedures and quality materials pool cracks should not happen.

Pool Renovation:

As a pool ages the plaster will become discolored, the tile will be outdated and in some cases downright "ugly". After about 10-15-20 years a pool will need renovation. Deck can be added or resurfaced. Automatic pool cleaners installed, skimmers replaced or even waterfalls added during renovation phase. Breathe new life into an old pool. A showplace Oasis can be in reconstructed in your backyard (see "Foley Renovation")

Re-plastering techniques vary. We insist on "sandblasting" every pool we renovate. The process takes longer, costs more and makes a "heck of a mess" but will insure that your plaster will not delaminate from the original structure. Proper preparation is not a "corner to be cut" in a major renovation.
